Covid-19 Bodywork Practice Updates

As a healthcare worker, I am committed to keeping you as safe and healthy as possible. The CO Dept of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) has put out the following new practices and precautions to do soMy office/suite mates and I are coordinating what this looks like for our building and massage room; creating a flow so that there's as little contact, and as much cleaning & sterilization, as possible. Over the past 11 years of practicing massage, well before Covid, I've followed stringent cleaning & sanitization practices; which are now fortified. Even with the new precautions, there is no known way to completely eliminate the risk of contracting the virus. Receiving bodywork opens you to the possibility of exposure.
To best care for clients while navigating the safest way to do so, I'm encouraging new and existing clients to book with me at Massage Specialists, where I've worked since 2017. At the studio they have the people and resource power to make sure all the i's are dotted and the t's crossed.

Covid-19 What's changing & What to Expect

The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), which regulates massage therapy and other professional healthcare services, is allowing practices to reopen with new safety measures. DORA has issued the following protocols for Massage & Bodywork practices, as the safest & most up-to-date Covid health policies.

Cancellation Policy: As usual, cancellations made within 24 hours of a session start time will be charged 75% of the session fee. As a sole proprietor, it is extremely difficult to fill a cancelled time slot, and causes financial strain.

  • COVID & illness exception: Clients (and myself) have the right to cancel and re-schedule a session at any time due to illness. Health-related cancellations will not be charged the cancellation fee

  • If you come to your appointment with any symptoms of infectious illness the session will be cancelled & rescheduled.

let's each do our best to take care of ourselves and each other!

Before the session

  • No waiting room - Please wait in the car or outside (6 + ft away from the entry). I will either text or come get you from the entrance when the space is ready. 

    • Pre-payment using Venmo is very much appreciated: @eeliza (many thanks!)

      • Stay 6 +feet away from others in common spaces.

      • Face masks are required to enter the building and must be worn at all times

 by clients and therapists​ (cloth masks are fine)

  • Hand sanitization (washing or gel) is mandatory upon entering the building.

  • I will take a temperature reading of each client with an infrared thermometer in the office 

During the session 

  • Masks must be worn at all times

    • Bodywork techniques, positioning, and draping will be adjusted so you

              can comfortably wear the mask on the table. ​​​

  • Intake will happen as per usual

    • Paperwork and intake will include Covid-related questions & waivers.

  • Gloves are not required for massage therapists, but I am happy to wear them upon request

  • Essential oils may still be used, but the aromatic effect may be less because of the masks 

After the session

  • As is always protocol, I meticulously wash hands, forearms, and elbows immediately after leaving the room. 

  • The post-session check-in & treatment plan will happen as per usual.

  • No-touch PaymentI'm not accepting cash at this time. All payments will be made through Venmo (preferred) or Stripe for credit card payments.

  • I clean and disinfect 'high-touch' surfaces between each session: tabletops, chairs, doorknobs, light switches, face cradle, bolster, and all massage equipment.

  • Wash laundry thoroughly. Blankets will be covered to avoid any contact with clients.

    • Sheets are immediately replaced after each session (this is always standard)

    • Sheets and blankets are washed at the end of every day

Building Cleaning

  • 2x/day cleaning high-touch surfaces

    • hand sanitizer is available for all clients at the main entrance​

  • 1x/week Deep cleaning (including steaming carpets)
